Double Duty

It's definitely a challenge to have more than one kid to care and look after, as I have now experienced for the past two months.  With a baby crying in your arms and the kakak suddenly asking for this and that, wanting your attention too.. it does demand a triple dose of patience and practice.  How do all those mommies do it? You know who you are... you, with 4, 5 or more kids in tow. Ni baru dua, saya sudah tunggang terbalik.  I was never a good multi-tasker.  In the heat of situations, when you can't handle it all at once.. there you have to turn away the kakak and tell her you'll be with her later... which of course takes ages and by that time she doesn't want to show you what she wanted to anymore.  Sigh.  I hope she understands.  That mommy has to take care of the little one first.  Because he's just a baby.  And kakak is already quite grown up and most of the time able to do things on her own already.  When baby was just born, I noticed the kakak sometimes sitting quietly on her own, staring into the distance.  I wondered if she was sad.  Or feeling left out.  Or if the change was all too much for her.  She was our centre of attention for the past 5+ years.. and now suddenly there's someone else.  I hope she knows (always) that mommy loves her sooo much and always will.  (Even as she's becoming naughtier by the day). And that mommy will always have enough love to share for the both of you.

Definitely a challenge, Sis.. that's one of the reason why I've decided that 2 is enough - at least for now.

I had my son when my daughter was only 2, and it really broke my heart seeing her trying to be independent, coz mommy have to attend to the baby brother 1st.. there was even a time when she told me that she thinks I love little brother more than her...

anyway, Yasmin is a lot older so I think she'll understand.. maybe you can try and involve her in things like changing the diaper.. folding the baby's clothes.. Ashraf is so lucky to have a big sister looking after him :-)
